Marc Desmons

After his studies at the CNSMD in Paris, where he now teaches, Marc Desmons combines instrumental practice and conducting.

On the viola, he has performed with Elisabeth Leonskaja, Pierre Fouchenneret, Antoine Lederlin, Hilary Hahn, and was the second principal viola in the Opéra de Paris from 1992 to 2010. Today, he is now the principal viola of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

He is a member of the TM+ Ensemble, where he is also Principal Guest Conductor, premiering works by Laurent Cuniot, Alexandros Markeas (Arsenal de Metz), Jesper Nordin (ManiFeste), and Emmanuelle Vo-Dinh’s choreographic performance Revolve set to Vortex Temporum by Gérard Grisey.

He worked with Swedish Radio Orchestra as assistant to Esa-Pekka Salonen on the a symphonic creation by  Nordin at the Baltic Sea Festival.Marc Desmons conducts the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and musicians from the Orchestre National de France in creations by Gabriel Sivak and Stefano Bulfon for the program "Alla Breve".He diversified his repertoire and conducted Britten and Stravinsky with the Orchestre d'Auvergne.

Committed to amateur practice, he collaborates with the Orchestre Note et Bien (la Messe en si, le Chant de la terre) and participates in the DÉMOS program.
