For the past 13 years, the “bad girls” of French quartets has followed a unique career vacillating between tradition and modernity. Committed to the early repertoire for string quartets, the musicians in the Béla quartet are dedicated to including the tradition of the string quartet in contemporary music life, commissioning and premiering works by composers such as Leroux, Filidei, de la Fuente, Drouet, Sarhan, D’Adamo, Blondeau, Combier, Knox, Naegelen, Aurier, Platz, Edler-Copes, Pattar…
The quartet’s conviction, inspired by the personality and oeuvre of Béla Bartok, encourages them to imagine encounters with a range of eclectic personalities: the iconic rocker Albert Marcœur, the huge griot Moriba Koïta, the Palestinian masters Ahmad Al Khatib and Youssef Hbeisch…
