Matteo Franceschini (TOVEL)

  • Composer

Matteo Franceschini studied composition with his father and then Alessandro Solbiati at the conservatory in Milan, the Académie Santa Cecilia in Rome with Azio Corgui, and in the Cursus program at IRCAM.

His research focuses on the dramatic quality of musical gesture and on the necessity assembling languages from a range of matrices, guided by a concern for contrast and fusion. His imagination is based on the strength of the narrative contents and on the creation of complex sonic and formal structures. In 2017, Franceschini took the stage name “TOVEL” during the project “ABCDEFG [a tuned sculpture]”. Under this name, he resurrected the figure of the author/performer. His commitment, in real-time, becomes and expression of his creative art.
