International Conference, 2nd Edition
You said spectral? This term is so often evoked, asserted, denied that it was time to question its significations: several aesthetics participate in “spectral thought” without necessarily having a relationship with the creative and performative tradition established in France in the 1970s with the collective L’Itenéraire. This conference looks at the multiple facets of spectralism, understood in any musical meaning of the word that takes into account the acoustic structure of the sounds and mechanisms of aural perception to create forms, timbres, temporalities, and new modes of expression. The three days will include interpretation workshops with exceptional musicians (Claude Delangle, Garth Knox, Frances-Marie Uitti, Duo XAMP) performing flagship works and commenting on their peculiarities in terms of writing and interpretation.
Organization: Nicolas Donin, François-Xavier Féron (Analysis of Musical Practices Team IRCAM-STMS)
With the support of the Société Française d’Analyse Musicale and Collegium Musicæ.
